Since 1998 our professional staff of trainers has been designing
custom fitness programs based on individual needs and goals regardless of age or current fitness level. Participants benefit from our expertise and diverse experience achieved from more than 25,000 personal training sessions. We work with individuals ranging from competitive athletics to 86 year old grandparents.

Tim Hawk is the owner and training supervisor at Oakland Personal Trainers (OPT). OPT has served the local community since 1998, offering customized, high quality training services to individuals who wish to improve their muscle strength and tone, cardiovascular health, and overall fitness level. Tim has been a personal trainer since 1995 and has administered over 20,000 training sessions. He is certified as a personal and cardiovascular trainer by the National Academy for Health and Fitness and as a kick boxing instructor by the International Sports Conditioning Association.
As a guest writer, Tim has published columns with Suburban Lifestyles and Troy Gazette newspapers. OPT has been featured in the media including articles in The Detroit News, The Oakland Press, and a Channel 7 segment of "Healthy Living" on exercise and physical fitness.
Tim has developed personalized training programs for clients of all ages and abilities including: NCAA athletes, fitness competitors, BMX professional riders and retirees in assisted living facilities. In addition, Mr. Hauke regularly presents fitness seminars to various organizations including: Oakland University, Weight Watchers, SBC-Ameritech, Avondale Academy, and the Kiwanis Clubs of Rochester and Sterling Heights.

Brenda Varnado

Brenda Varnado is a personal trainer at Oakland Personal Trainers (OPT). Brenda's practical education as a trainer was developed through her work with Dennis James, a 3rd place winner of the Mr. Olympia competition, and Terri Robers, Australian National Fitness Champion. She is a certified Fitness Trainer through World Instructor Training Schools, and is certified in CPR/First Aid through the American Heart Association.
Brenda has served in a variety of customer service, training, and marketing positions with General Telephone, and GTE Moblinet, Inc., and General Motors Overseas Corporation in China. The professional career experience combined with the training she received from working with professionally ranked fitness competitors has enabled Brenda to develop versatile training programs for individuals at all fitness levels.
Recognized for her unparalleled commitment to helping clients improve their quality of life through fitness, Brenda takes great pride in educating and motivating others in strength training, cardiovascular health and nutrition. Her columns on health and fitness have been featured in the Suburban Lifestyles weekly magazine.
Continually in a quest for self-improvement, Brenda regularly updates her training education through classes and self-study. She is an avid golfer and active member of the Rochester community.

Amy Fons
Director of Special Training
43 Years Old
Ms. Amy Fons is the director of specialty training at Oakland Personal Trainers (OPT). She has developed the popular "Boot Camp", Quick-fit and circuit training programs. Ms. Fons has been a personal trainer since 1995. The winner of the 1997 Miss Michigan Fitness and Mid-Michigan Fitness Competitions, she also competed and placed at the Tri-State and National Competition level.
She is certified as a personal trainer and kick boxing instructor through the International Fitness Professional Association.
Ms. Fons has been setting and reaching her own fitness goals for over 20 years. She regularly participates in 5K and 10K races throughout the state of Michigan, including the Crim, Oak Apple Run, Mackinaw Island 8 mile race, and others. She has won the Kensington Challenge, Heart of the Hills, and Flint Women's Only races. Ms. Fons also participates annually in the Workout for Hope, a fundraiser for breast cancer research.
As the developer of specialty training programs, and as a personal trainer, Ms. Fons utilizes her endless supply of energy and enthusiasm to help clients, at beginning and advanced fitness levels, to stay focused and motivated as they attain their desired fitness goals.

Lawrence Ragos
Certified Boxing Fitness Trainer
Lawrence Ragos is a Certified Boxing Fitness Trainer from the Boxing Fitness Institute. His passion for boxing emerged from long hard days of training at the Ringside Boxing Club in the Philippines, training with boxers, professional and amateur, martial arts practitioners and fitness enthusiasts.
He has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the De La Salle University in the Philippines. His education has proven to be valuable in training as he applies Sports Psychology techniques and principles in his fitness programs.
Lawrence is also a martial arts aficionado; He has a background in Yaw-yan Ardigma (Filipino Striking art) and Balintawak Eskrima (Filipino stick- based art).
He is all about developing the mind, body and soul. He continually learns new boxing training techniques and trains in Balintawak Eskrima with Tulisan Company. He is a voracious reader, spending his spare time reading Zen philosophy books.
Lawrence says, "Work doesn't get any better than this. I am teaching the sport that I love!
He believes in hard work, dedication and self- improvement. He agrees with the ancient Bushido saying that "determination is more important than wisdom or talent".
Alexandra Dziurda
Assistant Trainer

Alexandra Dziurda has been an Assistant Personal Trainer at Oakland Personal Trainers (OPT) since October of last year. She is currently a student at Oakland Community College studying for her degree in Exercise Science and Technology. At the moment, she not only spends her time keeping herself in tip top shape, but she also spends her time helping others with their fitness goals and needs.
Alexandra has participated and competed in many sports related activities and plans to compete in her fist fitness competition at the end of this year.
